FAQ'S

When does the season begin and how long is it?
The Quarter Horses TC actually have 3 seasons the Fall, Spring and Summer. Fall being indoor and both Spring and Summer being outdoor. The training year typically starts the first week of Oct and last through the first week of August. October through January we training Saturdays and Sundays and beginning February (assuming daylight allows) we start 3 days a week (adding in Thursday). By March we practices Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
When can I register and how much does it cost?
Admission to the team goes as follows. We offer two free practices prior to requiring a commitment. Those practices allow for two things. First, the parents and athletes can identify wether the program is a good match for what they are looking for in a team and second, it allows us to identify wether the family is a good fit for the program. After the two practices the coaches and parents convene and presuming everything is good to go registration is simply about filling out the online paperwork. Admission to the team gets progressively more difficult as the year progresses so we advise athletes to register as soon as possible. We also have a limited amount of room so admission to the team is on a first come basis.
Does athletes have to become a member USA Track & Field & AAU?
Yes, because we typically run in both those qualifier/championship meets. Want to know if your club is a member of USATF go to http://www.usatf.org/clubs/search/info.asp?associationNumber=45.
What about uniforms?
We don’t charge separately for uniforms. Our cost is ALL INCLUSIVE(with the exception of track spikes) to find out more about our pricing program go here http://quarterhorsestrackclub.com/pricing.
How will I know what events my child will compete in?
We track and record training and competition times and whatever event the athlete is showing the most potential in those are the events they will run during the qualifiers. For all non-qualifier meets everyone runs the 400m dash
Do you all participate in the Junior Olympics?
We typically evaluate wether the junior olympics is feasible for that year and as long as it “makes sense” we do.
Do you use equipment for training?
Yes, we do. We are big advocates of training equipment as long as it makes sense. Athletes can’t simply run everyday and expect to get faster. Also, there are only so many body weight exercises a person can do before it becomes unrealistic and boring. Sometimes using weight makes training easier and more efficient.
